Potential - Marcus
When I first met him he wasn’t all that confident and kinda kept to
Himself, but being involved with him for over a year, He has grown
spiritually, physically(lost weight), and relationally with his peers.
I mentor him directly now because he wants to go into ministry eventually.
God’s Work - Robbie
So far this past year at Olivet,I’ve seen a lot of
growth…along with a few setbacks, but for the most
part, the LORD is still working and shaping us.I
would like to brag on one of my student leaders for a
moment, his name is Freddie Dubon. He’s a senior at
Classen SAS.Freddie’s came a long way.
Our Gang - Cam
There is a sophomore in my club who used to look thugged out. During Impact we often compare gangs with Christianity. with questions such as how would you know if someone is a Crip or a Blood which we state that it is by their conduct and behavior. In the same way how could you tell if someone is a Christian which is by their conduct and behavior. Whenever we would mention this everyone always looked at this kid, and he would say why are ya looking at me. After class one day I asked him if he was in a gang. His response was that all of his family members were and that he was not and wanted to be the beggining of change in his family. He has been coming faithfully to impact and he is not gang banging. He is becoming less thugged out as well which means that Christianity is shaping his conduct and behavior.

PC West Update - Brandon Penn
William is a young man who has proven to be an example of progress. Last year our ministry on Tenth Street, Life 101, went to neighboring apartment complexes and trailer parks, telling youth about our church. At one apartment complex, I and a few other youth met Will, who was then a popular junior who played football. He did not have much to say to me or anyone else who was with me. Instead, his appearance showed that he was not interested in us being there. Senior year for him has been completely different however. This year, I have spoken on several occasions to him at lunch, and he is definitely more receptive to my presence on campus. What’s more excting, when I invited him to the impact club, he accepted. Since then he has stated that he wants to be a positive influence his senior year. He and some friends as an expression of this resolution went to a local elementary school to serve lunch to students their. Also he has on multiple occasions indicated that he does want to attend church. Although I saw him for the first time after the break this week, he still is interested in coming to the impact club. It is my hope that he will not only continue to come but that he continues to be the positive role model that he aspires to be.
NW Classen - Arlesha

The best part of Youth for Christ is the “impact club” and opportunity to meet teenagers who are happy about the Impact club at their schools. They go home and share the Gospel with their family and friends. You do not just minister to them you are also training up student leaders (disciples) who are ministering to their families and friends. I had a teenage girl tell me, “She never knew her family crazy home environment could improve, all she knew was yelling and shouting before (its frustrating).” She is now teaching her family how to pray together, work through problems, and arguments. And that’s what ministering to youth is all about, reaching the lost and allowing God to be the counselor, protector, deliverer, and peacemaker.
Psalm 28: 6 Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy.
God Bless,
Arlesha Blandon

D.I.V.A.S.- Laurey Pike
Urban Intern - Laurey Pike (Taft Middle School)
At the beginning of the Fall semester, I began a program called D.I.V.A.S. (Divine Influence Virtuously Applied at School) held at Northwest Baptist Church. I began my lesson and barely got into it before the girls began to ask me basic questions about Christianity, for example “Who wrote the Bible?” “Is God black or white” “Will so-and-so go to hell?”, etc. I was so impressed because these girls from Taft Middle School were actually asking questions because they were truly seeking answers. I could tell that they did not have anyone at home that they could talk to, but they choose to talk to me. We actually ran out of time because of all of their questions. (more…)
