For a long time, Anna didn’t think she needed God. Compared to some of her siblings who were partying and using drugs, she felt like she was “good enough.” But underneath, she was silently struggling with depression and self-harm. It wasn’t until she began reading the Bible that she saw how much God valued her — truths that spoke directly against the lies she was believing about herself.
As Anna started reading Scripture, she said that God began breaking down her pride and even her hesitation to engage with His Word. She made a personal decision: if she starts a book of the Bible, she will finish it. If she starts a Bible plan, she will follow through. And if she chooses to follow Jesus, she will do it wholeheartedly. One moment that stood out to her was when she realized God was speaking to her—right as she began Proverbs on her own, our YFC group started reading Proverbs too.
Through YFC, Anna found a community to grow in faith, stay accountable, and learn how to share Christ with others on her campus. She’s one of my students being discipled through our campus life that I’ve personally seen the most growth in from last year! She’s grown from being more reserved and shy to now boldly proclaiming the Word of God in our meetings as the Spirit moves on her. We are so proud of what the Lord is doing in her.
